The producer of the show Lewis wheelhouse tweeted: “Laura will leave ‘heartbreakingly’ during this series and Detective James will get a new sidekick.”
“Lewis Wheelhouse says plenty of Laura Shapinton in this series, but she will leave ‘heartbreakingly’. New companion not yet cast”. However she continues to be referred to in dialogue and seen in archival footage. Confirmed by producer Lewis Wheelhouse that Esmes last scene will take place in June in black pool for a heart breaking scene as we get to know a certain secret hidden amongst the eyes of Laura shapinton.
